How to Stop the Chaos of Your Busy Life and Find Peace In Each Day
FIT4MOM x Lisa Druxman
Does your life ever feel like a whirlwind of endless tasks, responsibilities, and distractions? I’ve been there. For years, I felt like I was running on a hamster wheel, trying to keep up with work, family, and everything in between. The more I did, the more out of control I felt. I felt like I wasn’t doing anything good enough.
It wasn’t until I hit my breaking point that I realized I needed to stop and redesign my life. In Level Up Your Life, I share how I found calm amidst the chaos—and how you can, too. Let’s dive into the tools and mindset shifts that will help you reclaim your time, energy, and peace.

Step 1: Recognize That You’ve Designed Your Life
Here’s a hard truth I had to face: The chaos in my life wasn’t happening to me—I was creating it. My overcommitted schedule, my lack of boundaries, my constant need to “do more”—all of it was by design. And if I created it, I could uncreate it.
The first step to finding peace is acknowledging that you have control. You can decide how to spend your time, who to spend it with, and what gets your energy.
Step 2: Redesign Your Life Around What Matters
When I realized I was living out of alignment with my values, I knew it was time for a change. I started by getting clear on what mattered most (my MITs—Most Important Things).
Here’s how you can do the same:
Identify Your Priorities: Write down everything that’s important to you—your family, health, relationships, career, and self-care. Then, choose your top three. These are your MITs.
Say No to What Doesn’t Align: If it doesn’t support your priorities, it’s a no. This simple rule freed up so much time and mental energy for me.
Design Your Days with Intention: Block out time for your MITs first. For example, I schedule exercise, family time, and self-care before anything else. Everything else has to fit around those.

Step 3: Embrace the Power of Slowing Down
We live in a culture that glorifies busyness. But I’ve learned that slowing down is essential for finding peace and joy. When you’re always rushing, you miss out on life’s small, beautiful moments.
Here’s how to slow down:
Single-Task: Focus on one thing at a time. Multitasking may feel productive, but it actually creates more stress.
Create Buffer Time: Build small pockets of unscheduled time into your day. Use them to breathe, reflect, or simply be.
Practice Mindfulness: Whether it’s through meditation, journaling, or just pausing to notice your surroundings, mindfulness helps you stay present and grounded.
Step 4: Set Boundaries and Protect Your Energy
One of the biggest causes of chaos is saying “yes” to too many things. I used to feel guilty about setting boundaries—until I realized that saying “no” to others is really saying “yes” to myself and my family.
Here are some tips for setting boundaries:
Start Small: Practice saying “no” to small requests that don’t align with your priorities.
Be Honest and Kind: You don’t need to justify your boundaries. A simple, “I’m not able to commit to that right now” is enough.
Protect Your Quiet Time: Schedule uninterrupted time for yourself each day, even if it’s just 10 minutes.

Step 5: Create a System for Peace
I’ve found that having a daily system keeps me grounded and aligned with what matters. My system includes journaling, gratitude, and habit tracking. It helps me stay focused and intentional, even on busy days.
Here’s what my daily system looks like:
Morning Journaling: I reflect on my goals, values, and intentions for the day.
Gratitude Practice: Writing down three things I’m grateful for helps me shift my focus from chaos to blessings.
Habit Tracking: I check in on my key habits, like exercise, mindfulness, and quality time with family.
You Deserve a Life of Peace
Don’t wait for someday to create peace in your life. Someday isn’t on anyone’s calendar. Life doesn’t have to feel chaotic. You can create a life that feels calm, intentional, and aligned with your values. It starts with taking control of your time, setting boundaries, and slowing down to savor the moments that matter most.
This isn’t about being perfect—it’s about progress. You don’t have to change everything overnight. Start with one small step today, and watch how it transforms your life.
