Celebrating Diversity and Strength with FIT4MOM

At FIT4MOM, we are committed to love, inclusivity, and the empowerment of all moms. We believe in creating spaces that are safe and welcoming for mothers from every walk of life, regardless of their disabilities, gender identity, religion, sex, socioeconomic, marital status, or ethnic background. Real, meaningful change comes through action, and we are actively working to listen, learn, and educate our franchisees, instructors, and communities on how to foster positive, lasting impact.

Today, we feature Danyette Young, a former FIT4MOM franchisee turned Home Office employee. Danyette shares her inspiring journey and insights as a Black woman, mother, and leader in the FIT4MOM community.

From Client to Leader

Danyette Young’s relationship with FIT4MOM spans over 15 years, evolving from a client to an instructor, franchisee, and now a key Home Office employee. She is the proud mother of three children and fur mom to Nala, her family’s beloved pet. Reflecting on her personal journey, Danyette notes, "It’s been a long journey to get here. I proudly led my local village for 6 and a half years, and now I support and coach our greater franchise network nationwide."

Her journey has shaped her unique perspective and commitment to FIT4MOM’s mission. As one of the few Black women within the organization, Danyette is proud of the role she plays in fostering inclusivity. "I’m proud of my Black heritage and honored to share my experience and lens with our FIT4MOM village and the world," she explains. Her voice is a testament to the impact and importance of representation within the FIT4MOM community.

Cultivating Inclusivity in Prenatal and Postnatal Fitness

As the national leader in pre- and postnatal fitness, FIT4MOM recognizes the need for continuous growth and learning. Danyette emphasizes that to truly support moms, the organization must reflect on and embrace diversity. "We cannot wear that badge proudly if we are not continuously diversifying ourselves, educating ourselves, and learning from others. We want to create safe, welcoming, inclusive spaces for moms not only at every stage of motherhood but from every race, religion, and background," she says.

Her passion for Black history and culture is central to her work at FIT4MOM, where she co-leads the Diversity Committee. For Danyette, celebrating Black history is about recognizing that it is woven into the fabric of American history. "The culture, stories, contributions, and voices of the Black community are a bigger lens into the American story," she says. "Black history is American history." Danyette sees this mission as an ongoing journey—one that FIT4MOM is committed to every day, not just during special occasions.

Lessons from Motherhood and Community

As a mother, Danyette is intentional about teaching her children the importance of honoring Black contributions to society. "We try to truly learn about, study, and honor the contributions of Black people in America, not only those who are well-known but also the current generations making a difference," she shares. Her family’s explorations often take them to historically rich sites such as the African American Smithsonian Museum, the Frederick Douglass House, and the Dr. Martin Luther King Monument.

Danyette encourages all families to take time to read and learn about Black history, noting that these experiences foster stronger connections between people. "Celebrating diversity, cultures, and each other unites us and can help us realize our differences aren’t so different at all. It makes us stronger, better, and more compassionate mothers."

A Vision for the Future

Looking ahead, Danyette sees a bright future for FIT4MOM, one grounded in inclusivity and growth. She praises FIT4MOM’s founder, Lisa Druxman, for her commitment to creating safe spaces for moms to thrive. "As the company grew, Lisa saw that we needed to expand our learnings in order to truly support and hold space for #allthemoms. We are on a mission to be a more diverse and inclusive brand," she says.

This mission involves a focus on celebrating Black history, collaborating with organizations that champion diversity, and working with teams and franchisees to ensure every mom feels welcome. "Whether she chooses us or not, we want her to know she is welcome here, will be celebrated here, will be loved here, will not be judged here, and will be safe to be herself here," Danyette emphasizes. "Even though we still have a lot to learn and far to go, we will not stop until all moms are represented, supported, and seen in our spaces."

A Call to Action

Danyette’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusion, education, and growth. She leaves us with a poignant message: "If you take just one thing from this post, my hope is that you will honor and respect Black struggles, triumphs, challenges, and contributions and realize that this should be part of our everyday."

At FIT4MOM, we are committed to these values and will continue to work toward creating spaces where all moms feel seen, heard, and celebrated. Join us in supporting this mission and fostering a community of love, inclusivity, and strength in motherhood.
