Reclaiming Your Sense of Self: One Mom’s Journey to Finding Balance and Purpose with FIT4MOM

Motherhood is a beautiful, messy, whirlwind of love and challenges. Many moms find themselves juggling everything from diaper changes to dinner prep, and, somewhere along the way, their own sense of self can slip through the cracks. But what if there was a way to reconnect with who you are beyond the title of “mom”? One mom found that exact way through FIT4MOM—and her story might just inspire other moms to take the leap and reclaim their sense of purpose.

Liz O’Driscoll is a wife, mom to three children (including twins!), and the proud owner of FIT4MOM Willow Glen - Campbell in California. Her journey to finding a balance between motherhood, her career, and fitness is a testament to the power of following your passion and staying true to yourself. Here’s how she did it.

A Surprise Discovery = the Spark of an Idea

Her journey with FIT4MOM started unexpectedly—at the library. She was out with her oldest son, Patrick, who was two years old at the time. As they browsed the parenting section, she stumbled upon The Empowered Mama by Lisa Druxman. She took the book home, read it, and immediately felt a deep connection. She knew she needed FIT4MOM in her life, but she wasn’t sure where to start.

Without wasting any time, she found the nearest FIT4MOM franchise in Sunnyvale-Mountain View, stalked their social media for a few days (in true mom fashion), and even added the franchise owner as a friend. Bold move, right? But it worked! Soon after, she was offered a free trial and quickly fell in love with the community and the classes. Not long after, she was hired as the franchise owner’s first instructor, teaching fitness classes and connecting with the other moms in the area.

At that moment, something inside her clicked. She felt an undeniable sense that this was just the beginning. There was more to her journey ahead, and she was ready for it.

Why FIT4MOM? A Passion for Wellness and Community

At her core, Liz has always been passionate about health and wellness. She has a Master’s in Public Health and spent years working in employee wellness and engagement, managing wellness programs to improve the well-being of others in the workplace. On top of that, she’s been teaching indoor cycling for almost a decade—a true fitness enthusiast!

But after having twins, something shifted. She realized that she could do so much more than she ever thought possible. Having twins was a game-changer—it made her believe that anything was achievable. It also made her realize that FIT4MOM was the perfect fit for her.

Supporting her community while being present for her kids would provide Liz the perfect balance. She could do what she loved—help other moms feel stronger, happier, and more supported—while also being there for her children. So, without hesitation, she decided to open her own FIT4MOM franchise.

The Power of Vulnerability and Building a Business

Starting a new business isn’t easy, but she quickly learned that one of the most valuable tools for growth was vulnerability. As a new franchise owner—her FIT4MOM location just opened in July 2024—she found that being open and honest with herself and her community was key to creating the kind of culture she wanted. Vulnerability allowed her to connect with her Village, bond with her instructors, and foster a supportive environment for the moms in her classes.

Vulnerability became her business philosophy. It wasn’t just about getting the numbers right or hitting sales goals—it was about creating an authentic, welcoming space where moms could truly be themselves. And it worked. Through vulnerability, she was able to build the kind of community she had always dreamed of.

More Than Just Fitness: It’s About Community

For Liz, the love of fitness is at the heart of her FIT4MOM journey. She’s been part of the group fitness world for years, and she knows firsthand how powerful movement can be. “A great workout can change someone’s whole day, but more importantly, it can change someone’s whole mindset. Fitness is a tool for transformation—physically, mentally, and emotionally.”

What makes FIT4MOM different is the way it blends fitness with community-building. Liz didn’t just want to help women get in shape; she wanted to help them feel supported, strong, and empowered in every aspect of their lives. Being a franchise owner has given her the ability to create experiences for moms that go beyond exercise. She’s able to offer them a sense of belonging, friendship, and encouragement in a space that’s free of judgment and full of support.

For her, that’s what makes FIT4MOM so special: it’s about more than just the workouts. It’s about creating a space where women can come together, share their stories, and lift each other up.

Flexibility and Balance: Why FIT4MOM is the Perfect Fit

Many moms face the challenge of balancing work, family, and personal well-being. It’s not easy, but for Liz, FIT4MOM offered the perfect solution. One of the best things about being a FIT4MOM franchise owner is the flexibility it provides. She can create her own schedule, be present for her kids, and build a career that’s deeply meaningful to her.

But beyond the flexibility, it’s the ability to help others that drives her every day. She gets to guide other moms toward feeling stronger, more confident, and more supported in their own journeys. That’s something that simply can’t be matched by a typical 9-5 job.

Building Something Magical for the Community

If Liz could give advice to any mom thinking about owning a FIT4MOM franchise, it would be simple: do it. “All signs point to ‘yes!’” she says. “You’ll get to create something magical in your community. You’ll get to spend time with your little ones and dive back into your professional career. It’s a win-win!”

And she’s not just talking about fitness. Liz is talking about creating a space where moms can feel confident in themselves again, where they can find purpose, and where they can connect with others who truly understand the challenges and rewards of motherhood.

What She Loves Most About Her Village

When asked what she loves most about being a FIT4MOM franchise owner, Liz’s answer was simple: “The mamas.”

Her community may be small, but it is mighty. The women she works with are kind, supportive, funny, and full of sparkle. They lift each other up, encourage one another, and share in each other’s victories. It’s the kind of village that every mom deserves to have—a group of women who have each other’s backs, no matter what.

And at the heart of it all, Liz’s family is involved, too. Her kids and husband are part of the journey, and it makes everything feel even more fulfilling.

It's Time to Find Your Village

If there’s one thing Liz wants others to know about FIT4MOM, it’s this: it really is the #kindmomsclub. It’s a place where women can be real, be vulnerable, and be supported by others who understand what they’re going through. It’s a place where moms can find not only fitness but also friendship, connection, and a renewed sense of self.

Whether you’re looking for a new career, a supportive community, or simply a place to feel stronger and more connected, FIT4MOM might just be the answer you’ve been searching for.

Liz’s journey shows that it’s possible to build something amazing while still being present for your family—and to thrive as both a mom and a business owner. So, if you’re ready to reclaim your sense of self and dive into something fulfilling, take that first step. Your Village is waiting for you!
