5 New Habits You Can Stick To in 2023

The new year is a great time to reflect on your goals and to implement new, healthy habits. However... let’s face it, resolutions have a reputation for being a waste of time; and for the most part, big drastic changes are a waste of effort because they typically aren't sustainable.

We are sure you have heard to try one or two of small, easy, incremental changes for sustainable well-being... but where should you begin? We've got you, Mama! Here are 5 healthy resolutions you can make stick in 2023.

1. Make Your Bed Every Morning

While there is not a big difference in the amount of sleep people get, a recent poll reports that people who make their beds each morning are more confident, less groggy, and can wake up without an alarm each morning. Bonus: bed-makers also have more sex on a weekly basis.

2. Take Cold Showers

A study in the Netherlands reports that people who finish their showers with a cold blast use 30% fewer sick days and reported having more energy than those who didn’t. That might not sound too inviting, especially right now in the middle of winter, but who can complain about feeling more energetic throughout your day?!

The great news? Thirty seconds is all you need! The research shows that a 30-second blast of cold water is just as effective as a 90-second one.

3. Add Strength Training to Your Routine

If we told you that a certain exercise could improve your mood, decrease your stress levels, strengthen your bones, and boost your metabolism, wouldn’t you jump at the chance to get started?

Good news, Mama! Studies show that strength training can provide all those benefits for you and more. And, you can combine your cardio and strength training together to get an effective workout like our Body Boost workouts, which are included in our Body Well® 8-week transformational program.

4. Start Journaling

Grab a pen and paper or open your favorite notes app. Writing things down can be transformative! If you want to make better nutritional choices, write down what you eat each day. If you want to be happier, start a gratitude journal. Whatever your goal is, begin journaling to help you track where you are now and decide where you want to be in the future.

5. Find Support

Start in the home, Mama. Skip the take-out and try to cook something new together at home. Ask your kids to build an obstacle course in the backyard with you. Bring the kiddos to the grocery store to help you select ingredients. Healthy habits can be more fun and more sustainable when others are involved!

Looking for a little more accountability and support? Let us help you with our 8-week Body Well program! Learn how to focus on your daily habits to improve your overall health and well-being with movement, nutrition, hydration, mindfulness, and meditation TOGETHER as a group.
