Ahhhhh we love Mondays around here at FIT4MOM headquarters! It is so fun to see these transformations take place, and we aren't just talking about physical here. Sure Megan is looking smokin HOT, but the mental and emotional change is just as rewarding. I mean hearing Megan say "Gaining back my confidence as women, mom and wife is priceless" is pretty freaking cool. And we can all relate to that, right? So whether you have that confidence or if you are looking to find it again, read on and be prepared to be inspired...
*Tell us about yourself*
My name is Megan and I’m a proud momma of two amazing little girls. My oldest, Malia, is just over two and my youngest, Emma, will be 10 months in a few weeks. I was introduced to FIT4MOM/SS in West Seattle through my PEP’s group with my first daughter. After having Malia I was eager to get moving again. Prior to having babies I was addicted to running. Running was my vice but for some reason when I became pregnant I felt the need to nap, eat, read baby blogs and nap again. Living the luxury of a pregnant women was not kind to my waist line. Now almost 2 years later I am proud to say FIT4MOM West Seattle has changed my life in so many ways. Not only did they help me get through my 2nd pregnancy but I was introduced to the Body Back program. Body Back became my new vice! I was 110% committed to getting back on track again. In fact I was so committed to the program that I became a certified Body Back trainer!
*You look amazing! How long has it taken you? When were these photos taken?*
My first photo’s we’re taken exactly 7 weeks after I had Emma. My last photo’s we’re taken in September. In 6 month’s I had lost over 20 pounds.
*What motivated you to make a change?*
There are so many reasons why I wanted to make a change. First off- it was time. Two babies in two years is hard on the body. I was tired of feeling pregnant & overweight. My confidence was low- I hated every time I had to get dress outside of my mommy gear. Secondly- I knew that in order to be happy I needed to take some time for me. I know myself- I know what I need to do to feel good. I know what I need to eat and drink in order to take on the day with two crazy little ones and a busy husband.
*Here is the question our moms are dying to know the answer to: What are you doing to get/stay so healthy!? What program did you follow? We want the nitty gritty!*
I’m going to Body Back as often as I can either teaching or participating and I’m back to running again. My goal is to run a race every month to keep me moving. As for eating-this is a challenge for me. I have to stay on top of this by meal planning. What helps me to keep motivated is joining different FaceBook pages such as Clean Eating Magazine & Vegetarian Times. There are tons of recipes to choose from daily!
*It can be SO HARD to find “me” time when you are taking care of your family, how were you able to make these healthy changes and stick to them while still doing all of you other day to day duties?*
I had to get my family on-board and help them realize this was going to be a healthy change for not only myself but our family. At first it was hard for everyone because either someone or something was being sacrificed. As time went on we all truly learned what was a priority and what we could let go. Gaining back my confidence as women, mom and wife is priceless.
*How do you feel now? How has this changed your life?*
I feel great! This is an ongoing journey for me and I’m excited to see what’s next!
*What are you most proud of? Or list your happiest moment.*
I have to say losing the weight has been pretty great but the fact that my 2 year old daughter now loves to exercise with me is priceless. She gets so excited when we get to lace up and go running together.
*What advice do you have for other moms who want to get healthy?*
Nike said it best.. “JUST DO IT!!!”
