Hey mamas! Hope you're enjoying the start of summer! Meet Ellen, our Motivating Mom who is a true inspiration and proof of what you can accomplish when you believe in yourself!
**Tell us about yourself**
I am a married, 52-year-old mother of two (Liam is 13 and Eileen is 12). I work full time as the Chief Operating Officer at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency. I have a full, wonderful life.
**What motivated you to make a change?**
I think I came to the realization that denial was getting me no where. For 15 years I would look at a photograph of myself and actually believe that it was the camera angle, or the outfit I was wearing (certainly not me). I also thought that as I aged, I was simply less attractive. In January, some good friends decided to do a 21-day cleanse…I proclaimed that I could never do anything like that for 21 days, and instead signed up for my first BobyBack class. That was January 1st and here we are five months later and I am still going!
**What are you doing to get/stay so healthy!?**
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, eating great food…nothing processed! Working out a minimum of four days per week and feel fantastic!
**It can be SO HARD to find “me” time when you are taking care of your family, how were you able to make these healthy changes and stick to them while still doing all of you other day to day duties?**
I am blessed to have an incredible, supportive husband. He actually has followed that BodyBack program with me and has dropped 40 lbs. We share house/kid work and provide each other the time to exercise. As a result, we both feel better and are much more present for our family!
**How do you feel now? How has this changed your life?**
I feel like a new woman! I now realize that it is possible to look better as we age…I feel better now then I did 20 years ago!! My goal when I started was to wear a bikini during spring break (I never thought I would wear a bikini again at my advanced age…kidding!)
**What advice do you have for other moms who want to get healthy?**
Do it for you…do it for your family! Set the example!
