Have you ever met a person that just radiates happy? That can cheer you up in an instant? That loves her job and legitimately loves her life? Well, these people don't come around all the time but we are lucky enough to have someone like this who works for corporate FIT4MOM: Meet Stephanie. She owned and operated an awesome Stroller Strides franchise in Knoxville, TN. For the past 5 years she has worked as the marketing director and is now the VP of Partnership Development (sound important right!?). We love, love, love Steph and she motivates us all at FIT4MOM headquarters so we knew we should feature her as a motivating mom!!
*Tell us about yourself*
Stephanie Ramirez, 43. I’m a work at home mom to a 6-year-old by and I’m the former owner of the Knoxville FIT4MOM. I've been married to Santiago for 18 years. We traded in our surf boards in San Diego for hiking boots and moved to the hills of East Tennessee to pursue a quieter, more affordable life and to start a family.
*How did you find FIT4MOM?*
My husband was flipping through a 2-year-old copy of Entrepreneur magazine that he was about to toss when he came across an article on the back page of the magazine about a women who discovered a way to work part-time, spend time with her baby and stay fit. He knew I would be interested and he passed the magazine to me and insisted I read it. I began to cry because I knew I had just found what I was looking for…
*Why did you decide to open a FIT4MOM location?*
I was feeling unfulfilled and guilty for not helping to contribute financially to our household. Plus we really needed my income. I was a new mom, in a new city and I needed friends, support and a way to get fit. I’m entrepreneurial and I love fitness, but I had never taught a fitness class. I felt like that would be the smallest hurdle to overcome when starting a business.
*What is a typical day in the life of a FIT4MOM franchise owner or instructor?*
Wake up, put a smile on your face, even if you don’t feel like it because you know you need to be present and strong for all the mommies who will be in your class that day. Get to class and teach the absolute best class you can. Smile, encourage, nurture, hold babies, count to 10, sing Itsy Bitsy Spider, chase a toddler, grab a runaway stroller, say something to inspire each and every mom to give them the strength for motherhood for one more day and last of all SMILE.
*Best part about your job?*
Not only that I get to contribute to helping other moms create a balanced career, but I get to live it. I get to work and create and plan in a place that truly believes in strengthening mothers and families.
*How has FIT4MOM changed your life?*
I can’t even put words to this question. It’s completely changed the course of my life and I can’t tell you if the end result of where I am now would be the same if it were not for my experiences and learning and growth with FIT4MOM.
*Any advice for moms out there?*
If it’s something you think about doing everyday and you can’t get it out of our mind, then go and do it because you have everything inside of you to make it happen – whatever that is. Don’t think about the “how” just go and do it!
