Creating Balance and Flexibility in Your Life

As Jody Springer watched the Today Show in 2007 with her days-old son, Roman, something caught her attention. Lisa Druxman, the founder of Stroller Strides, was being interviewed, and Jody was intrigued. "I immediately went to the website to look for classes in my area," Jody recalls. When she realized there weren't any nearby, she was redirected to information about starting her own franchise. Little did she know that moment would shape the next 17 years of her life.

“I spent my 12-week maternity leave learning more and figuring out how I was going to leave my job as a marine biologist,” Jody explains. While she returned to her job for a few months, Jody wasted no time pursuing her newfound passion.

“I signed the purchase of my FIT4MOM franchise the day after my first day back to work.” Soon after, Jody left her career and began offering classes full-time. This was just the beginning of a transformative journey—for her and hundreds of moms in the Wilmington area.

A Purpose Beyond Fitness

At first, Jody’s motivation was clear: “My ‘why’ was wanting to stay home with my new baby!” But over the years, as her family grew to include two more children, her “why” evolved. The flexibility to be present for school drop-offs, chaperone field trips, and volunteer in the classroom became even more invaluable. “Outside of part-time preschool for my kids when they were toddlers, I have never had to use daycare or babysitters,” Jody shares. “Being able to spend time with them when they are little has been such a gift that FIT4MOM gave me all these years!”

However, Jody quickly discovered that her passion for FIT4MOM was more than being present for her kids. "When I first started, a new passion for fitness began," she recalls. “I had always loved attending group fitness classes but never dreamed I would teach them.” Over time, she fell in love with leading classes and witnessing the transformations in the moms who attended. “I fell in love with seeing moms push themselves and overcome fitness challenges or start a new health journey.”

Yet, the most powerful transformation was something more profound than fitness. “It didn’t take long for me to see that community of moms building and how important it is for moms to find their ‘village.’” That sense of community—creating a space where moms can find physical and emotional support—became the core of Jody’s work. “Whether the key driver has been building community or empowering moms to prioritize their health, both have ignited a purpose in me that I didn’t know was there.”

A Supportive Village

One of the things Jody treasures most about her experience as a franchise owner is the community she’s built—not only among the moms she serves but also within the larger FIT4MOM network. “The relational rewards that I have reaped from being a FIT4MOM owner are immeasurable,” Jody says. "From my clients and staff to local business community partners, to other franchisees all over the country, to FIT4MOM HQ—my ‘village’ reaches far and wide, and for that, I am so thankful."

Jody points to FIT4MOM’s commitment to its franchisees as a critical part of her success. “One of the things I love about FIT4MOM is that at their core, HQ is committed to our success as franchisees. There is no shortage of help and resources to support us!” From attending conferences to working with a business coach, Jody has taken full advantage of the training and resources FIT4MOM offers. "In all my years as a franchisee, I have never missed an opportunity to attend a conference or other in-person training event."

A Community Like No Other

For Jody, one of the greatest joys of her work is the women she’s met along the way. “We are so fortunate to seem to attract some pretty freaking amazing women,” Jody says with a smile. "These moms are some of the most chill, down-to-earth, not afraid to be themselves, not judgmental, and just an overall kind and welcoming crew."

Creating a safe, supportive space for moms has always been at the heart of Jody’s vision. “It has always been my hope to offer a safe space for moms to come and exercise and connect, and that brings me the greatest pride and joy.” Reflecting on how her community has grown, Jody adds, “You know what they say, ‘Your VIBE attracts your tribe!’ and I think my team fully embodies this vision!”

A Journey She Can’t Imagine Without FIT4MOM

Looking back on her 17-year journey, Jody is filled with gratitude for how FIT4MOM has shaped both her personal and professional life. “I truly cannot imagine motherhood without FIT4MOM,” she says. “Personally and professionally, it has brought so much to me and my kids' lives that I can’t even put into words.”

For Jody, the experience of running her franchise has been about so much more than fitness—it’s been about finding purpose, building community, and creating a life that allows her to be present for her family. “Through the ups and the downs, having a supportive village to lean on is what it is all about,” she says. “This is modeled from the top down at FIT4MOM, and I am forever grateful for this honor and opportunity to own FIT4MOM Wilmington.”
