1) What did you do before becoming a FIT4MOM franchise owner?

I was a neonatal ICU nurse for about 8 years before becoming a franchise owner.

2) What inspired you to change paths and own a FIT4MOM franchise instead of your prior career/life path?

As a brand new mom, I stumbled upon Stroller Strides (not yet FIT4MOM) in 2008 in a baby magazine. I immediately looked for one in my area, knowing myself and the other moms in Pearland needed Stroller Strides. There was not one in my area so I closed my eyes, took a BIG leap and never looked back!

3) How do you feel a company like FIT4MOM empowers women?

FIT4MOM empowers moms to run their own businesses while not having to sacrifice spending their days with their children. It also empowers every mom that joins our programs, helping them realize their physical and mental strength, make crucial connections to other moms and make a difference in our communities.

4) Have you found support from other FIT4MOM franchise owners? How?

Absolutely! My fellow franchise owners are my lifeline and I can always reach out to them for help and support at any time. FIT4MOM is a unique franchise and these women are there to share the joys, challenges and successes along the way.

5) How has being a FIT4MOM franchise owner helped you have a career that is balanced with motherhood?

My children are with me nearly always when I'm working. I choose not to have childcare for them and I make my business work around my family life. Finding the balance is a struggle sometimes. But it's something I am thankful my children get to watch me work through in order to do something that I not only love, but is important to me. I am incredibly blessed that they get to see me in a leadership role on a daily basis. I am hopeful it will inspire them to combine career with parenthood, especially my daughter.

6) How did you know you had what it took to run a franchise business?

Honestly, I didn't know. It was a HUGE leap of faith for me! I always knew I had a strong work ethic and hoped to learn the rest along the way!

7) What kind of support and training did you receive from the FIT4MOM Home Office to start and grow your franchise?

Tons of support! Everyone has been willing to help as questions and needs arise and I am so thankful for the many women who have mentored me in big and small ways.

8) How has being a FIT4MOM franchise owner helped you achieve your life goals?

I am contributing to my family's finances while keeping my children with me. They are only young for a short time and I don't want to miss a minute. But beyond that, it is so meaningful to me to make a difference in the lives of moms in my community. Getting to see women find their strength in motherhood is amazing. The rewards of being a FIT4MOM franchise owner spread far and wide.

9) How do your own values align with FIT4MOM?

I believe all people should be accepted as they are and that as women, we are inherently so very strong and powerful. Differences are what make us special and should be celebrated. I strive to create a space for moms to be just who they are and for them to flourish physically and emotionally. I want moms to come as they are to our classes and find their safe place to land. I want my team to feel loved and appreciated, so they can spread that love to our clients. If I accomplish all this in a day, I feel successful. I think FIT4MOM would agree!

10) How has your local chapter become a community of moms?

Our moms are incredibly supportive of one another. When there is a mom in need, the group steps up to provide. When tears are shed, there are many open arms ready to embrace. Judgment is left at the door and everyone is welcome!

11) Where do you hold your classes? How can people sign up to take a class?

We hold our Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre and Run Club at local city parks and FIT4BABY and Body Back at our city Rec Center. Go to pearland.fit4mom.com to sign up for a free trial class!

12) How long have you owned your franchise?

I purchased my franchise in July 2008, when my oldest son was 6 months old. We will celebrate 10 years of FIT4MOM Pearland in 2018!

13) Who are you a mom to?

I am a mom to three boys and a girl. Reese is 10, Pierce is 7, Laila is 3 and Brooks just turned one!
