Happy Monday Moms! Here is another awesome Mom to motivate you to go for it!! (I was going to say "to just do it" but that sounded so Nike, right?!). Lynn is looking good these days, really good!! She is the perfect example of hard work paying off if you commit, which she has. Thank you Lynn for sharing your story!!
*Tell us about yourself*
I am a 35 year old stay at home mom to a 1.5 year old daughter. I was struggling to lose my baby weight and came across a Stroller Strides Living Social Deal in December 2012. I joined Stroller Strides in January 2013 at Tierrasanta and mostly attend there as well as Balboa Park and Lake Murray sometimes. After about 6 months with Stroller Strides I started noticing some people posting about their amazing success with Body Back and still not being 100% satisfied with my post-baby body and shape, I called Michelle at the Kearny Mesa location on the first day of her second session to ask if it was too late to join. She was able to fit me in and I never looked back!
*You look amazing, how much weight did you lose and how long has it taken you? When were these photos taken?*
I just completed my second session of Body Back and overall in 16 weeks I have lost: 21 pounds, 4.25” in chest, 3.75” in waist, 5.25” in hips, 2.5” in thigh and shaved 2 minutes off my timed mile. First picture was taken in July, second in September and third in November ’13.
*What motivated you to make a change?*
After my daughter turned a year old and I still had not lost all my baby weight, I knew I needed to do something more than I was doing. I was most scared to commit to the early morning session start time, but knew it was what I needed to do.
*Here is the question our moms are dying to know the answer to: What are you doing to get/stay so healthy!? We want the nitty gritty!*
The meals with Body Back have made a world of difference in my everyday routine and overall health. I try to keep my meals as close to those offered in the journals and the food portion of Body Back combined with the high intensity workouts, really proved to be what helped me reach my goals. I continue to attend Stroller Strides to get workouts in on non-Body Back days and when I don’t have somebody to watch my daughter so I can workout. I look at almost every label of the foods I buy to make sure they are the healthiest option for me, the entire program has helped me retrain my brain for the better.
*It can be SO HARD to find “me” time when you are taking care of your family, how were you able to make these healthy changes and stick to them while still doing all of you other day to day duties?*
By attending the early morning Body Back sessions when my husband can still be home to watch our daughter was super beneficial. Over the weekend when I have a little extra time, I prepare food for the week, whether it’s grill chicken to have on salads and sandwiches during the week, or preparing turkey meatballs to have a large batch to go to during the week. I try to make sure that usually about once a week, I have my “go-to” snack and meal options so that I don’t fall off track.
*How do feel now? How has this changed your life?*
I can honestly say that I feel the best that I remember feeling in my adult life. I just recently ran 2-5K races, I placed 3rd in one for my age division and the other one 4th. I used to casually run to keep fit but now I am faster than I have ever been and never in my lie imagined I would actually get a medal for placing in a race. This is all a result of my overall increased strength! I feel a world more confident than that girl in the picture back in July, I have had to buy new clothes as my jeans that fit me before I even got pregnant are now too big on me.
*What advice do you have for other moms who want to get healthy?*
Like Michelle tells us all the time, it’s not just about the number on the scale. While I agree that is what I look at most often, the strength I have gained and inches I have lost, combined with having a new mentality on the foods I put in my mouth are all such examples that I have done more than just lost the weight I was looking to lose.
