Meet Crystal! This supermom joined FIT4MOM Las Vegas as a Stroller Strides member last summer, enrolled in Body Back that Fall and has lost 70 pounds to date! More importantly, Crystal has gained more confidence as a mother and has grown to be an inspiration to the other moms in her group. She's a testimony to the fact that with a little persistence and a lot of support, anyone's health and wellness goals can be achieved!
**Tell us about yourself.**
I am 34, a mother of 2 beautiful little ones, Jocelyn who is 2 1/2 and Dominic who is 11 months. I have the honor to be a stay at home mom. A friend of mine has been going to Stroller Strides for some time now. She knew I was struggling with some stuff and invited me to try a class out.
**You look amazing, tell us about your fitness journey.**
I started Stroller Strides in mid July of 2013 - I weighed 268 lbs. Then I started Body Back in September 2013 and weighed 252 lbs. Today I weigh 198 lbs. I have lost 70 pounds in 8 months!
**What motivated you to make a change?**
My KIDS, I don’t want to be a couch potato mom. I found myself sitting on the side lines while my husband played with our daughter. I don’t want my kids seeing that, I want to be as involved and active as possible. I want to set a healthy and awesome example!
**Here is the question our moms are dying to know the answer to: What are you doing to get/stay so healthy!? We want the nitty gritty!**
I have been doing a combination of Stroller Strides and Body Back. I am about to start my 3rd session of Body Back next week. I also follow the food journals via Body Back, which are/have taught me how to eat and make smarter choices. I also have some before pictures on the pantry and fridge as a reminder of how hard I am working to get healthy.
**It can be SO HARD to find “me” time when you are taking care of your family, how were you able to make these healthy changes and stick to them while still doing all of you other day to day duties?**
I’ve included my family. When I make baggies of snacks my daughter helps. I use nap and bed time to do meal preps and grocery lists. I also get help from my husband he has been such a big help. He follows the meal plans and snacks as well (he has also lost weight! Since starting Body Back he has lost 20 lbs!).
**How do feel now? How has this changed your life?**
Amazing and excited to be on this journey!!! I feel like I have a fighting chance, like anything is possible...gaining confidence I never had or thought I would have. I feel stronger mentally and definitely physically. I feel (and say this all the time) I have been given a second chance at life! :)
**What advice do you have for other moms who want to get healthy?**
Take a leap of faith. Don’t be afraid of the first step. Your health and well being is just as important as your family. Find something that works for you and follow through. You may feel like it is impossible but trust me, it’s not. Never give up on yourself.
