Motivating Mom: Hot Mama Lisa!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Meet our motivating mom of the day, Lisa!

**Tell us about yourself**

I am mom to Jackson (6), Mackenzie (4) and Greyson (2). I spent my first year and a half as a mom working outside the home. I was laid off during my second pregnancy (blessing in disguise!) and became a stay at home mom. I spent the next 4 years as a stay at home mom which was very fulfilling but felt like I was missing something. I had done Stroller Strides classes over the years and after my Greyson came along, I decided I needed to kick it up a notch and did a Body Back session, best move ever.

**What motivated you to make a change?**

None of my clothes fit right. I didn't feel good about myself. I knew I needed to make a change, but wasn't sure how until Body Back was recommended to me. Body Back is such an amazing program. The workout plan combined with the meal plan was the perfect recipe for success. The support I received from my instructor was amazing and priceless. She held me accountable, praised my accomplishments and kept me on track.

**What are you doing to get/stay so healthy!?**

After going through Body Back and realizing the strength I had inside me, I decided to become a FIT4MOM instructor. I am an avid runner and I teach 5 classes a week (Stroller Strides and Body Back). I also try to keep my diet as clean as possible. I can always tell when I am falling off track and those pants start getting tighter, that feeling gets me right back on track. I also enjoy taking other FIT4MOM classes.

**It can be SO HARD to find “me” time when you are taking care of your family, how were you able to make these healthy changes and stick to them while still doing all of your other day to day duties?**

I love working out first thing in the morning before the kids get up. Everything is peaceful and quiet and I have no excuses. Stroller Strides is a great way to double dip "me" time with caring for your baby.

**How do you feel now? How has this changed your life?**

I am in the best shape I have been in my entire life at 37 years old with 3 pregnancies under my belt (literally!:)). Through Body Back, I lost 14 lbs (during the 8 weeks and went on to lose 10 more), I lost 6 inches off my waist and had overall improvement of over 300%. I now get to share my new found love of fitness with other moms and their babies. My kids also now love exercise. My 4 year old daughter can do (real!) push ups and my 2 year old knows what a plank is. :) FIT4MOM is wonderful in so many ways, but the impact it has on our kids is just overwhelming. I am so grateful that FIT4MOM has given me the strength for motherhood! By becoming a FIT4MOM instructor, I have now filled the void that I felt after being laid off with still being able to care for my kids.

**What advice do you have for other moms who want to get healthy?**

Stick to it. Try to plan your workouts in the beginning of the week so you know what you are doing each day without thinking about it. And of course, stick a Stroller Strides class, or 2 or 5 into your workout schedule!

Try not to think of eating healthy as a diet. Be excited that you get to eat healthy and that you are teaching your kids to eat healthy! And never, ever skip breakfast, it sets the tone for your day!
