After 2 c-sections, 18 months apart, each time with an extra large belly full of a large baby (each was over 9 lbs) and excess amniotic fluid, I was eager for my 12 week post-op clearance to resume exercise and start working on re-shaping and strengthening my body. When that time came, I was not seeing the results I wanted from working out on my own, and the kickboxing class I used to attend only held evening classes, conflicting with precious family time and bedtime. A fellow mom friend invited me to try stroller strides, and it was clear that this was the group for me.

Since joining stroller strides nearly 6 months ago, I have also gotten help from a health coach and a meal plan, and have lost almost 35 lbs, and gone from size 14 pants to a size 2!!! I'm smaller than I was before kids, and much stronger! I had a setback with some severe foot pain problems, but continued to show up and focused on arm strengthening while the group did exercises which I could not do. Now I absolutely LOVE my upper arms and shoulders!

Not only have I set goals that I had never thought possible, but I've reached them and continue to make more life-improving goals.

What motivated you to make a change?

With my first pregnancy I had gestational diabetes, and both my sons have always been in the 80s and 90s % in weight. I know that, statistically, we are all at increased risk of developing Type II Diabetes. I'm doing what I can to both demonstrate and provide a healthy lifestyle for my family, including eating good foods and staying active.

Also, to be totally honest, I wanted to look good in clothes again!

Here is the question our moms are dying to know the answer to: What are you doing to get/stay so healthy!?

Discipline. You get out what you put in. How badly do you want to reach your goals? Honestly, once I started and saw results, I was that much more motivated to stick with it, and even do more to get there.

Plan on going to stroller strides every day. Life happens. I typically end up making 3-4 classes every week.

Use your support system. Let people help you. Believe in the power of your community.

Don't go more than 3 hours without eating and drinking water. This was huge for me.

My husband joined me on this new way of eating. He's lost about 25 pounds. We cut out all dairy, sugar, artificial sweeteners, artificial preservatives. No bread, pasta, or rice. Hardly even any fruit. Mostly fresh vegetables, meats, eggs, nuts.

We typically eat 6 times a day.

It can be SO HARD to find “me” time when you are taking care of your family, how were you able to make these healthy changes and stick to them while still doing all of you other day to day duties?

Weekends are a great opportunity to plan and prep your meals and snacks for the week.

Tupperware. Lots of Tupperware.

Keep some nuts in the car -just in case- so you never end up hungry and allowing yourself to "cheat" just to stave the hunger.

One of the many great things about stroller strides is the fact that I can take my kids! I don't need daycare just to get my workout in.

How do feel now? How has this changed your life?

I have so much more energy and stamina that I'm not only keeping up with cleaning my house, I've even been doing extra projects, like purging and organizing.

What are you most proud of? Or list your happiest moment.

I'm most proud that I stuck with it and hit all my goals.

What advice do you have for other moms who want to get healthy?

Believe in yourself.

It helps to not only set actual goals, but tell someone, or write it down. This holds you more accountable. Make sure your goals are attainable, and set a deadline.

One of my first goals was to be able to do a single sit-up when my son was 4 months old. I did it the day before his 5 month birthday. I DID it! And then I set a new goal.

Keep setting new goals. Always be striving towards something. You can do it :)
