Friday Fitness with Farel: Drink & Move

Many of us have been conditioned to think of exercise and total well being as something you either do or don’t do. “Did you get your workout in today”? “Did you drink all 8 glasses of water today”? “Did you eat well all day”? The best answer to all these questions is YES, of course. However, here is an easy directive to health…I’m going to make it simple for you: Drink and Move.

I am a very lucky woman to have a career that allows me to speak at fitness conferences across the country. One of the perks I get from presenting is meeting and learning from some amazing fitness professionals, as well. I attended a session at the IDEA Personal Training Institute in DC this year with Michol Dalcourt, from The Institute of Motion. While his lecture was a 3 hour intensive on the role of connective tissue, one brilliant take-away I KNEW everyone could relate to was this paraphrased advice from Michol: If every hour or so we all simply stood up and sat down 10X and then drank some water, we would feel phenomenally better! (I could almost hear the collective thought we ALL had in that room: “I COULD DO THAT”!)

Please do your best to exercise most days of the week, drink the recommended about of water and eat as clean as you can. However, when you perform these simple tasks, Drink and Move, you could find yourself feeling better every day.
